Today in western civilization we took some more notes again on the Ancient Rome powerpoint. Our notes included information about Julius caesar, Tiber's gracchus, and how the government helped the plebs. the plebs were give bread and entertainment to keep them from revolting. Their entertainment included the circus Maximus and the Coliseum where there was charriot races and various fights. Julius Caesar lived from 100 BC to 44 BC. He was a highly successful general who concurred Guals territory. Caesar made all the common people happy. julius and his two good friends Pompey and Crassus made the first triumvirate.

Socrates in class

Today in Human Geography class we identified important key terms and learned about Socrates, his life, and how he died. One of the key terms was agora. Agora is a public open space used for assemblies and markets. It was the center off athletic, artistic, spiritual, and political life in a city state. Another word was polis. A city state in Ancient Greece, especially as considered in its ideal form for philosophical purposes is polis. It is also the origin of the words such as politics, poll, etc. We learned why the year 508 BC was so important. It is so important to the ancient greeks because in that year democracy was introduced in Athens by Cleisthenes. This was the first time in record history that people had revolted against their ruler. Then we learned about Socrates. He was in 470 BC in Athens. Today in class we were assigned to take notes from the textbook pages  142-145. Notes: Macedonia is located north of Greece it had a rough terrain and a cold climate.  Macedonians were hardy people that lived in villages.  359 B.C.
