today in class we finished up our projects. We decided that Lauren was going to make the stadium and shelby was going to edit our power point and ill finish the essay. and we added a video. Today in western civ we talked about the bad storm we had over the weekend.  Mr. schick showed us the damage at his house and told us everything he had to do to clean. For the rest of class we worked on our group projects.  In ancient greece you could only compete in the olympics if you were a: Greek male free citizens not a criminal and whose city states agreed to participate Any social class Orsippos,  a general from Megara Polymnistor, a shepherd Diagoras, a member of a royal family from Rhodes Alexander I, son of Amyndas and King of Macedonia  Democritus, a philosopher I also started to work on the essay.

Today in class we were assigned to take notes from the textbook pages  142-145. Today in Western Civ we finished watching the video by hank green about philosophy.  Once we finished the video we got with our groups and we worked on the group project. my part of the project is about the different events in the  Ancient Greek olympics.  The ancient greece olympics only had eight events including: Running - the stade race, which was a test of speed, the diaulos (two stades - 400m foot race), dolichos (ranging between 7 and 24 stades). Jumping- Athletes used stone or lead weights called halteres to increase the distance of a jump. They held onto the weights until the end of their jump, and then release them backwards. Discus throw- The discus was originally made of stone. It is very similar to today's freestyle discus throw. Wrestling - highly valued as a form of military exercise without weapons.
